The Surprise Reaping
As the trailer has alluded to...Haymitch was illegally reaped for the 50th Hunger Games. But hey, I don't think laws are too strict in Panem. Still, to discover all of our district 12 victors were never meant to set foot in the arena changes the game. We've caught glimpses of the scene in the trailer and is probably the most heavily featured segment. Yet, we still can't wait to see the shock reaction on-screen.
The Uncanny Casting
The franchise has always been known for its stellar casting, but the line up for this addition deserves all the praise. Iconic characters such as Effie and Plutarch couldn't have been more perfect....I mean look!

It is lining up to be better than Catching Fire...
Now, that's a big statement. However, Director Francis Lawrence never disappoints. While we are guaranteed to miss out on some moments from the book, we can see from the trailer there are also going to be a few additions that only someone who truly understands the world of Panem can bring to the screen.
The moment where all 24 tributes are sent into the arena has a twist. All the tributes can see each other as they are lifted up onto their podium. One final terrifying moment to see Panache just as the countdown to the blood bath begins. This is just one moment from the trailer but the overall look and feel of the film is nothing short of breathtaking.

Haymitch's heartbreaking story
The entire novel is a series of unfortunate events. While you enter the world knowing Haymitch ultimately survives the arena, I don't think any of us were prepared for the level of heartbreak suffered in almost every chapter. With so many full circle moments with the cistern, the mockingjay pin, sober Haymitch and his sweetheart the book delivered on so many levels.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes introduced us to new characters while this story expands and changed our understanding of so many iconic stories.
